I am always curious about times of old, and as I click around late at night I sometimes run into a place that reminds me of all things good. There are only a
few unspoiled things I remember from my EQ days and the Edgers is one of them.

wow, MoD. now there is a blast from the past. Hello Ennya. How have you been? Does Ennya still travel the lands of EQ? I very distinctley you being one of two
in MoD (the other was a super nice cleric you traveled with) who helped me in my first few weeks in the guild and in EQ. I've found myself gabbing with
Aphyon about the OoTWH and MoD days several times.
I just recently came back myself. When I see your name I think of good times in the MoD guild hall. Hope life has treated you as well as you have treated others. /salute old friend Neshikin Yumeki Mark of Draconian -> Edger -> New Legacy -> Edger

Yes I am sure you are areferring to Solarianne, Neshie. Ennya OMG what a blast from the past. One of the few things I loved about the Mark was you and Solar.
I almost left myself when you guys did. I so remeber my first guildwar and how you sat down and explained some things to a very noob level 15 pally because
the guid leader was too busy being psycho to do so LOL.
How the hell are you? How is Solar, do you still speak with her? If so please tell her I send many huggles her way. BTW not sure if you knew or not but Reginna (Peek Abu) and Valetudo ended up getting together in RL and last we heard (not TOO long ago) they are still together and very happy. Thought you might like that piece of good news |

Wow, I remember you all! So many memories. Life had taken many twists and turns for me, I'm a father now with a 2nd on the way. My son is 4 in a few days,
and I'll be having my 10th anniversary a day later. I managed to get roped into leaving Software for a bit and got my teaching Credential for mathematics.
When my sanity returned I left and went back to software and have been at a company now for a bit over a year. Since joining I've been to Helsinki, Taipei,
Tokyo, and Hasselt (Belgium), and las stop before the new baby is Hawaii with the family for vacation and work.
Solarianne is doing very well. Married and they have a house walking distance from mine. We're both playing WoW at the moment. I've been constant, but Solar left and came back for burning crusade.Neither of us is in the raiding category anymore, just casual really. For those that knew her, Moline is also well and married Mokin (a Triune member) in real life a few years back. Although they are living far away we still speak sometimes and fondly when we do. Others have slipped away over time, many at once when I joined Triune, more still when I left Morell Thule for Stromm. Still bad blood if you can believe it with people over all that. We chose Earthen Ring (Solar and I) when WoW first came out because CdL was going to play here, and some old names showed up -- Nazriel among the oldest. Demani still plays a character on this server but she lost her love a while back and I think playing reminds her so she has cooled a bit. The rest of CdL has moved on to other games and servers so it's quiet. If I could stand to play EQ after WoW (I tried a few times but it was absolutely unplayable for me.) I might have returned. Maybe if they give me a free acount for life. Anyone spending time in WoW? |

Solarianne!! That was her. Possibly one of the nicest persons I have encountered in any online game. Send my regards.
Congradulations on being a father. You can find me on WoW on our guild raid night on Thurs on the horde side as Orson and I am guild leader of a small group of real life friends (15) on the alliance side on the same server; Dragonblight. Your more than welcome to jump in and say hi at anytime. You might find some old Eq friends with me there as well.

lol, I was just thinking. Aaldari and I were never guilded at the same time. O_o Cause I still dont' remeber you. I think I left before you were there (I
was unguilded for amost 20 levels before Peek introduced me to this crazy pally hell bent on collecting sashes from kobolds in the karanas; wonder who that
was) . Or has my memory just gone that much ?

No you are right, Neshikin. Not sure when Ennya joined the Mark but you had left some time before I joined. I remember distinctly because we were grouped
together in Lake of Ill Manners and got a very cold reception from you when you saw my guild tag. Then when the group did a tiny bit of roleplaying you got
even colder. I am not sure at what point you and I sat down and discussed the reasons for you leaving the guild. Then we became the boosom buddies we are now!
but Ennya was in the guild when I joined.
Grats on becoming a father Ennya! And Nazriel....wow now there is a name I have not heard in years. |

All this got me to thinking... http://www.potolsky.com/webhazard/ToV-site/
MoD didn't last long after the events that lead to Solar and I leaving to form Tears of Veeshan. In fact, it was just after the formation of the Gathering of Banners. ToV spent many a time in the Lake of Ill Manners buffing and helping the lowbies in order to find new membership while the new people joining the game were dropping. The remnants of the MoD scattered to a number of guilds. Faevo, ToV, Champions of the Light, and various GoB member guilds. ToV itself shatteed once as well when Danadur, Wifey, and others left to form another guild whose name eludes me at the moment. more later |

OMG what a small world. That guild would be Protectors of Kindred Souls whom we knew well. We formed our first alliance with them. We chose not to go GoB
route as they had put in or were putting in a point system and our charter forbids using a point system. Cannot remeber what brought our two guilds to start
talking about an alliance, but I didn't know Danadur and Wifey were in ToV before Protectors. Needless to say the allaince ended badly. I was not on the
raid, but one my officers at the time made a judegement call on a piece of loot that was going to rot. No drop. Turns out later after looking at logs and
time stamps he made the right call call. However, two people in particular in Protectors (cannot remeber the names was a gnome female warrior and another
warrior) didn't see it that way and made a huge fuss. The officer had actually offered to compensate the loser with another item, very comparable and they
refused. Next thing we know they disolved the allaince without even spekaing to us and also came over and ranted us out on our own boards. Remeber Crystilla?
She was the only voice of reason in the entire thing and still remains a great friend to us to this very day. Haven't seen Danadur or Wifey in some time
but they did play for a very long time. After Protectors dbroke up they joined a raiding guild. Think it was AV or Reviction.
Actually now that I think about it I think you ran the first raid I ever went on. Did you run a Najena raid way back when you were in the Mark? |

Shades of nostalgia, Batman!
It seems I've only been in GoB/former MoD guilds - Champions of the Light, to Tears of Veeshan, to Faveo... Heh. I remember the LOIO buff station. I pulled every single goblin I could find to the windmill as Karth. And almost died, no less. Swarms of greens (back then) hitting me, and I remembered that I didn't tell anyone I pulled them, so no healing for the dorf! Was a lot of fun. |

Yep, first raid I ran. It was in conjunction with another raid to Naggy's Lair but for lower levels. I seem to remember someone falling in one of the traps
into a jail cell...
Yeah PoKS, that was the one. Man, was that a strange thing. I remember thinking it so odd that you guys made an alliance with them. Probably because Solar and I knew all the crap that happened when Danadur left and how it happened. Ahh well, life went on so to speak. Karthanon! ha, what a name to come by. It's been so long it seems. Any of y'all playing WoW or still sticking it out in EQv1? |

I played WoW for 30 dys, got a Hunter up to 30ish, said forget it. Seemed too easy. And PvP really wasn't my thing.
I did enjoy playing it when I did, though. Decided to stick it out on EQ1, however - still wayyy too much I haven't seen. |

God grief you have a memory like an elephant. Yes I fell into the trap LOL. I had never been there before and no one warned me until AFTER I fell in.
Sticking it out here. I almost went to Star Wars along with my hubby but there were severe drawbacks there that did not appeal to us. In the end, I just could not see giving up all the hard work and freindships I made here to go to essentially the same game as it would ahve been with WoW. And judging by what others have told me about it I would not ahve been happy there. Way too much to see and do here to get bored for sure. Just really wish they would give pallies or shaman snare....then I would be content LOL. |

WoW is a totally different game from EQ and it gets more obvious as you level up. The point of the game is to be able to solo to near the top end of the game,
and/or group, and or raid. The first raid zone is for levels below 20 in fact. Everything is instanced, and there are no camps. For the most part (99% of
encoutners) guarantee the named and that they will drop one of their valuable items. The will always drop quest stuff, and enough for everyone who helps.
(Group or raid connected as appropriate.)trade skill skillups are guaranteed and no failures to make stuff. (you can rarely fail to collect something like
herbs or mining...) Grinding is purely optional and only to earn gold.
It's not supposed to be hard, if it is, you're doing it wrong. The high end raiding game is a bit more like EQ -- Furor and Tigole designed most of it after all... I'm waiting for something else to come along. Honestly, I would rather play WoW engine in the EQ world. I remember clearly why I quit EQ, after having a level 56 rogue with a better tanking breastplate than my level 62 warrior, and better taunting weapons with no hope of improving what I had it became silly to continue. I've hears things have gotten better since, but when I've tried to play since the engine was painful to play with, and the interface worse... How much work for a level 62 warrior to get good taunting weapons these days? |

Its much easier for taunting now considering they have agro augs that can be placed on weapons.

Last time I checked, augments still meant farming in LDoN or for rare drops. Has that changed?

LDoN isnt the only place for augs and actually hardly noone does LDoNs anymore. I believe the agro type augs can be common depending on the zone/mob. But then someone else may be better at answering this since I rarely play.

Gotcha. I can't imagine playing WoW the way I played EQ when I was a hardcore raider (GoB then Triune) as there simply isn't enough game to play. Now,
however, the opposite is true if EQ still plays as it did when I last tried. Wow group zones are all instances (for the most part) and generally do not re-pop
till long after the instance is done -- and even then bosses do not spawn again. There is even code that prevents rare named from re-popping once the have
spawned once. So if a group members needs to leave partway through you can invite someone quickly to the zone and finish up. No longer am I a group (or raid)
killer when I have to leave due to RL issues. Also every class can solo effectively with every build from 1 to 70th level and they can expect to have very good
gear doing it without having to spend gold on it. I dont know about now but can you imagine that in EQ? I played a wizard and Soloing that whole range was
doable, but much of the time I had only one place in one zone to choose from. and I can't even imagine it without J-Boots. (Summoning made it impossible
post 65 except for one mob type in one location in Plane of Fire.)
Heh, I even remember when I transferred to Stromm and zoned into PoF to solo and I got all kinds of cross-eyed looked from the only guild that had access. Because a RP-oriented guild member had Fire access... |

That is the one true thing that upsets myself and why my hubby quit. The lack of being able to solo things. Now necros can effectivly solo as can other
classes IF very well geared, but for anyoen other than a necro (don't flame me here necros can solo way more places with LESS equiptment than other
classes) it takes more gear.
Now EQ had started integrating more and more instances. You see it a lot more on raids now too that it is instanced which I applaud and wish every raid encounter was an instanced. It is much easier to get equiptment than before and faster to level. Although you would not know that by looking at me! LOL However the true lure of the game is the gabellion quests and tasks that can be done to get better gear or augs, etc. I was really upset with the constant expansions as it makes getting a group harder, however it has spread out the "camps" so much there is no where near the competition for camps there used to be. True a roleplay oriented guild having access to Fire is awesome. But we have our own trophy since we are getting asked what business we have in Ikky hehe! |

Its very possible to have top grade gear now in eq without being in an uber raid guild. The last few expansions have gear that is one groupable. Its just a
matter of finding friends that are free or willing to help out.
